The Insight is the result of Honda's long-held ambition to be more than Green, but to also be Good. Honda began developing lower impact engines over 35 years ago, and the Insight is the current result of this process, a process that will eventually lead to the zero-emissions vehicle.
The advanced IMA Hybrid System combines an Electric motor with a Petrol motor for levels of fuel consumption and emissions that are amongst the lowest for production vehicles today. Our Hybrid system allows the Insight to travel under electric power alone at low cruising speeds, while the Idle Stop system stops the petrol engine when stationary, for zero emissions in certain situations. Making the Insight's impact on the environment particularly low in urban areas, while the smooth CVT Automatic gearbox also adds to the urban driving appeal.
