Commercial Vehicle Testing (LGVs)
Kevin O'Leary Group operate two approved VTN test centres for light
commercial vehicles (LGVs) at our Douglas and Bandon outlets. The LGV
commercial vehicle test (CVT) is for all small goods vehicles with a gross
vehicle weight (GVW) of 3,500 kg or less. (i.e. gross vehicle weight (gvw) of
3500kgs or less). LGVs are required to take a commercial vehicle test every
year to renew their commercial vehicle certificate of roadworthiness, a
pre-requisite for renewal of vehicle tax and insurance. The first VTN is due 12
months after the date of vehicle registration and thereafter on an annual

What do I bring along for test?
Please ensure that the driver who drops the vehicle in for the test
brings a valid form of identification (valid drivers licence or
passport) with them when they present for the test as the test
cannot be started without this.
How much does it cost?
The cost of the test is €111.16 including VAT @23%.
What if I fail the test?
If your vehicle does not pass the LGV test, you will be presented with a
"Fail Certificate" indicating the relevant fail items. The repairs must be
carried out before the vehicle can be retested. Please ensure that you return
for a retest within 21 days from the date of original test, or 4200 km
(whichever comes first). The cost of a retest within these parameters is
€43.58 including VAT @23%. If only a visual retest is required this is
carried out free of charge.
How long does the test take?
